What’s Next?
Before we begin, I want you to know that on Saturday, September 19, we are hosting a Hurricane Laura Supply Drive on our Crosspoint Church-Bellaire campus from 9am-12pm. This is an effort in partnership with Southwest Houston United Responds (SHUR) and Houston Responds. Please visit relief.cityrise.org for a list of approved donation items and even other locations if you cannot make that Saturday. We narrowly missed major damage in our city, but our neighbors to the east did not. Let’s step up and help those who need it as we have done so well for our city before.
What a huge night we had this week! I hope you joined us on YouTube Wednesday night for our “Next Steps Update.” Executive Pastor Kirby Follis and I sat down for a special time to share with you the next steps in our reopening process. Mark your calendars for Phase 2 on Sunday, September 13 and Phase 3 planned for Sunday, October 18! We also discussed some important business items that we will vote on as a church including the Payroll Protection Program, a West U Baptist Worship Pastor, and moving Dr. Mark Edworthy onto our Executive Staff.
Please take some time to hear Pastor Kirby and I speak about what we’re planning over the next several weeks. We might even answer other questions you might have! Check it out below.
The video above is quite thorough. But if you need some bullet points, here you go!
• Phase 2: Sunday, September 13
Next Step: Bring back KidStuff nursery care and KidRally for our Children’s ministry at each worship service hour. Children will need to be registered online prior to each Sunday. Check out our KidStuff page here for registration links.
Crosspoint Church-Bellaire will add a 9:15am on-campus worship service.
Masks and health protocols will still be followed.
• Phase 3: Sunday, October 18
Next Step: Bring back Community Groups and add a dedicated time slot at West U Baptist.
West U Baptist will add 9:45am as a dedicated time slot for Community Groups in between worship services.
Community Groups at both campuses will aim for a “Room and Zoom” setup with attendees in the room and on Zoom.
Masks and health protocols will still be followed.
This date is subject to change. More info to follow.
• Church Business Meeting: Wednesday, September 9
This will take place at West U Baptist at 6pm.
We will discuss ratification of the Payroll Protection Program, the new West U Baptist Worship Pastor, and Dr. Mark Edworthy as an Executive Staff member.
• Church Business Church-Wide Vote: Sunday, September 13
We will vote in-person during all on-campus worship services on the items mentioned above at the Church Business Meeting.
• Classic service to remain at 8:30am at West U Baptist
Moving forward, we will keep our traditional-style service at 8:30am at West U Baptist. Our main reasoning is to have the best and most clean accommodations for our older church members.
I’m proud of where we’ve come since the end of May when we first opened our doors back up to in-person worship. I’m also proud that we have continued to improve upon our Online Experience to provide worship opportunities to those who can’t attend, elect to stay home, or live farther away—and we will continue to do so even as we open further. But please know that we are ready for you whenever you are ready to return. We are excited about the future and have been blown away by the gifts God has given us even during a pandemic. His generosity gives us the inspiration we need to keep doing all we can to lift our city and the world by generously giving the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We’ll see you this Sunday, on campus or online. Don’t forget to watch our “Next Steps Update,” and have a great and safe Labor Day weekend.
Stay Expectant,
Pastor Roger
